CEO Ray Riek has a Master’s of Science in Chemical Engineering and is a former Technology Director for Monsanto Company, with broad experience in manufacturing, engineering, marketing, and product and process development. He has done extensive consulting in product and commercial development.

President and COO, Jim Howard began his career with Monsanto Company in their plastics and resins division.  He has worked in various business segments of the chemical industry – Plastics, Rubber Products, Engineered Products, Industrial Chemicals, Performance Films, Nylon and Acrylic Fibers, Polymers, Intermediate Chemicals and Carbon Black.  Jim was President of Columbian Chemicals, a North American based global manufacturer of carbon black.  Prior to joining Columbian, he was Vice President and General Manager of Solutia’s Nylon business.  He has lived and worked in Canada, the United States and Europe holding positions in general management, international business management, led business process re-engineering initiatives and served on the board of numerous international joint ventures.  Jim holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry and Environmental Science, and a Master of Science degree in Climatology, all from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.

CFO and SVP, Finance, Benjamin (Don) Dent holds an MBA as well as BA and BS degrees from University of South Carolina.  Prior to joining Carbolytic Materials Company he held a number of senior level finance positions with a number of companies including VP/CFO Moark, LLC, CFO/Finance Director of Capsugel (unit of Pfizer), Director of Strategic Planning at Solutia and CFO/Controller of the Fibers Division of Monsanto Company.  He is also a Certified Management Accountant.

SVP, Strategic Planning, Ruben Chuquimia received his Jurisdoctorate of Law from Washington University in St. Louis and his BA from Duke University. He has extensive experience advising entrepreneurs, startups and emerging growth companies in the development and execution of business strategies for all phases of a company’s development cycle.  He has negotiated a number of business relationships, joint ventures, and other innovative alliances with strategic partners, structured equity and debt raises of capital, including private offerings and IPOs and been the lead counsel in a variety of complex mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions.  Mr. Chuquimia was a partner at Gallop, Johnson & Neuman, L.C. where he spent 12 years prior to joining Carbolytic Materials Company.

SVP, Dr. Frank Gerberich has a Doctorate in Analytical Chemistry from Lehigh University and extensive experience in developing and commercializing new product and process technologies. He was employed at Monsanto Company/Solutia Inc. where he held positions in Technology, Business Development, and Business Redesign. Most recently he was Vice President, Saflex Technology, having worked in multiple businesses including Rubber Chemicals, Saflex, and Specialty Chemicals. Many industry leading product and process technologies that were developed under his leadership are being practiced commercially today.

Scientific Advisor, Dr. Earl R. Beaver holds PhDs in both Chemical Engineering and Physical Chemistry.  He brings a detailed background in materials science, environmental issues, University relations, and government affairs to CMC.  Dr. Beaver has held a number of positions on the boards of various industry and academic associations including Institute for Sustainability - Technical Advisory Committee, Sustainable Engineering Forum, Chemical Industry Executive Steering Group – US DOE, North American Alliance of Chemical Engineers, National Environmental Technology Institute, Gulf Coast Hazardous Substance Research Center, Environmental Solutions Program, Argonne National Laboratory, Center for Environment Science and Technology, Editorial Board of Chemical Processing.
